Description:
Mr. Tebbutt wanted to create a website for his English classes where he could post announcements, assignments, worksheets and have a calendar and post due dates. The first decision to make was the website platform we would use to build the site. With aid from the Website group's helpful website package, we decided that since Mr. Tebbutt already had a Google account and Google offered all the features he was looking for along with simplicity, Google Sites was the platform for us.
After choosing the platform, we spent the next few meetings going over the many features that Google Sites had to offer and how they could be used effectively in class. After building a site that was sufficient to meet the needs of his class, we moved on to Google Docs. Mr. Tebbutt was looking for a good tool to use for the peer editing phase of his class' upcoming ISP. Google Docs was a tool that was perfectly suited for this job because it can be edited my more than one person at the same time from different computers. Mr. Tebbutt also found that Google Docs would be an effective way for students to hand in their assignments and for him to mark them using the comments feature.

Application in Other Subjects:
Google Sites:
A website with an integrated calendar would be incredibly useful in all subjects as it would give students a reminder of what is due and could tell students what they're going to learn in class. Uploading assignments and worksheets that were handed out in class would make class even more student friendly because students would be able to download what ever work they missed. This would also make it easier for the teacher since he/she wouldn't have to print out extra sheets for those who missed class since it would be the student's responsibility to get all material that they missed from the class website.
Google Docs:
Google Docs can be used in any courses that require peer editing or group work. It's an incredibly useful tool because it allows more than one person to edit it at once. It could be useful for a group to work together on one doc instead
