Description:
For our placement with Mr. Willis, the goal was to create a Moodle for his Phys. Ed. classes. With his moodle, he wanted to be able to upload lessons and handouts for his students to download and view. He also wanted to give possible online quizzes. Another specific feature for his Moodle was to make his "Daily Activity Log" online and be able to monitor when the students complete this log.
We started this placement by first learning how to create all these features on Moodle and we got familiar with the website platform. We then brainstormed different ways to create his "Activity Log" and came up with the pros and cons of each and decided on the best method. Once that was established, we sat down with Mr. Willis and showed him how to create and use all the features that he wished to have on his Moodle.
We also created handouts for Mr. Willis, so he can have something to refer back to when he is working on his own. The handouts consists of step-by-step instructions, print screens and our emails so he can ask us questions when he is experiencing difficulties.

Applications for Other Subjects:
Moodle is a blended learning (learning in different environments i.e. at home and the classroom) resource. Moodle may not be suitable for all teachers because different teachers may have different purposes for their website and some teachers may not require a website at all. But however Moodle is a very good online learning tool that encourages online interaction between students and teachers. Moodle has far more features (online quizzes, assignments restricting access, managing weight factors etc.) compared to other commonly used website platforms such as Google Sites. However Moodle is complex to learn and is more recommended for teachers who plan on having a fair portion of their course online. So overall, if a teacher is willing to put in the time, Moodle can be applied to any subject field.
