Ms. Chevannes 2014 - Kyungho Choi
Teacher: Ms. Chevannes (Math Department)
Subject: Grade 10 Math and Grade 11 Functions
Technology used: Education.weebly.com, Google Calendar, Google docs
Description: Ms. Chevannes requested for me to create a website where she can post class materials for all her classes. She specified that she wanted to post class lessons, links and other resources in the future. She also wanted a calendar where she could attach files of lessons and mark important dates. She wanted her website to look roughly like www.macgeo.com. She also wanted me to teach her how to update and maintain the website.
When creating a website, I considered the different options I had. Some of the platform I’ve contemplated using were google sites and wordpress. In the end I’ve decided to go with Weebly due to its clean appearance as well as its simplicity. Since the website was going to be continuously updated and maintained by Ms. Chevannes, the quick, easy and simple building blocks that Weebly offered seemed to be the best choice. She also wanted a calendar embedded in her website that she could edit and attach files to. The best option for that was undoubtedly Google calendar as it offered just that.
The website I created can be modified and edited to fit a variety of needs. For example, if Ms. Chevannes teaches different courses next semester, she can just change the names of the tabs and calendars and replace the contents. Therefore, it can be used for whatever classes and subject areas.
