Ms. Clair - Helen Han
Teacher: Ms. Clair
Subject: Grade 9 Science and Grade 12 Chemistry
Technology Used: Google Sites
Description of Project
For the placement, Ms. Clair wanted to make her websites more organized and helpful to her students. Ms. Clair wanted to be able to upload her lessons, share resources with her students and keep her students up to date on events.

To improve on her existing websites, an announcements page was created on each site. Ms. Clair can create announcements to remind and keep students informed. The announcements are also displayed on the home pages, so that when they access the site they will notice it immediately.
A calendar was also added to each of the websites. A calendar allows students to be prepared for class and lets them know when assignments are due and when quizzes or tests are.
Organizational changes were also made - new pages were created for different uses. For example, a Course Notes page was created with a subpage for each unit to allow Ms. Clair to upload her lessons according to the units. This also allows students to easily find the lesson they are looking for. The Resources page is used for uploading dry labs and answers to homework problems and the Links page can be used by Ms. Clair to share useful links with her classes.
The sidebar allows visitors to navigate the site easily. Every page is displayed on the sidebar so the visitors only need to click on the page they wish to access.
Uses in Other Subject Areas
Google Sites can be used by anyone to create websites. Teachers of any subject can make a class website to improve the learning experience for their students. Google Sites is a great platform because it is easy to use, and one who has little experience with technology should be able to learn how to use it without any problems. As well, calendars and announcements can be integrated into the site. Teachers can upload their lessons onto their site with minimal difficulty.
