Description
The teacher was Ms.Cuttle and the subject was for international business. Ms.Cuttle wanted a new technology to use for a project. The project was to create a profile of an international company.
Google Earth
She initially wanted Paul and me to try google earth. We played around with it’s features and created a demo. Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program Ms.Cuttle made the decision that it was not an effective technology, I agreed 100% with her. Before any other trials Paul dropped the course and it was just me.
Mozilla Popcorn Maker
Ms.Cuttle thought that mozilla popcorn maker would be a technology worth pursuing. Popcorn maker is a web app that allows you to combine video and audio with content from the rest of the web — from text, links and maps to pictures and live feeds. This was an interesting program, but Ms.Cuttle, our IDC technology guru and I couldn’t find a way to control the length of the presentation. Popcorn maker gave the default time of 11.22 seconds which was far too short for a presentation.
Infogr.am
Ms.Cuttle was contemplating using prezi or moviemaker, but the point of the placement was to find a better alternative technology. One student in our IDC class suggested infogr.am which makes infographs.
This program allows you to create a presentation with minimal text, pictures, graphs and videos. The main flaw with the program was that it was tough for the students to move the different parts of their presentation around. We went with infogr.am because time was winding down and it satisfied what Ms.Cuttle wanted in the new technology.
Infogr.am can be used in many different classes. It best strength is it’s graphs. There are many graphs and visuals that it can create. There is little to no instruction needed to make one either. This can be used in history to cover a timeline, science with different visuals to show bacteria count over time, math for showing graphs etc.
