Description of Project
Ms.Elso-Ponzo wanted to explore the possible applications of the Smartboard in her Grade 10 History class so classroom activities would be interactive and meaningful. We started by scavenging the net, collecting various sample activities that were suitable to be incorporated into her classroom.
Several of the resources we gathered included historical timelines, matching games and more. All of these activities can be used on a Smartboard, and used a software called Smart Notebook. However this software was not on Ms.Elso-Ponzo's computer so we requested access to the Smart Notebook software through Ms.Cuttle.
We also provided Ms.Elso-Ponzo with a website containing tutorials, templates and samples of review games that could be incorporated into her grade 10 history class. The website, Super Teacher Tools contains Flash templates of games which can be used in all subject areas. To display the uses of these activities we created our own sample Jeopardy review game and assisted Ms.Elso-Ponzo in using it with her class. In order to ensure Ms.Elso-Ponzo understands how to create these activities we created a tutorial on Jing.

_Additionally, Ms. Elso-Ponzo requested us to
update the "After Grade 8 Night" brochure and to spice it up by adding
more visuals. By using Photoshop and Microsoft Word we provided
Ms.Elso-Ponzo with an improved brochure.
Additional Applications
Both the Smart Notebook Software and Flash review games can be used in various grade levels in all subject areas. The fact that both can be used in a classroom without a SMARTboard is an added advantage.
Smart Notebook is a collaborative learning software that brings interactivity into the classroom and engage students in learning. It provides teachers with templates of activities that function best with the software to make lessons meaningful for the students.
Flash games are a creative way for teachers to review any subject with their classes. Not only can it be used to create review games, but it can also serve as in-class activities which promote teamwork, leadership and classroom participation.
