Ms. Hanna 2012 placement with Anthony Sistilli & Michael Ramolo
Teacher: Ms.Hanna
Subject Area: English
Description of project:
During this placement, were asked to do a few things.
1. Create a bookmark that she can hand out to her class. The bookmark had to include a QR code, that when students scanned, would redirect them to her website. This required us to use Microsoft publisher, a QR code generating website, and Photoshop.
2. Re-format her website in a more easily accessible/maintainable way. To do this we split the website into three sections, one of which contained an embedded calendar. We did this on Google sites because that was where her previous website was on. After it was all done, we met up with her at lunch and took her through the steps of updating her website.
3. Make a PowerPoint tutorial on how to make the website and the qr code so if she ever forgets she can check it. The PowerPoint included screenshots with captions and circles to show her exactly what to do with minimum confusion.
Technology used:
Microsoft publisher
PowerPoint
Internet qr code generator(http://qrcode.kaywa.com/)
Paint (for screen shots)
Google drive, calendar, sites
Possible uses in other classes/subject areas:
Website: Other teachers can use it to post assignments, PowerPoint lessons, and other course related material on the website. This can also get teachers more at ease with the idea of involving technology in teaching.
Bookmark: Other teachers can use the bookmark to not only encourage reading like Ms.Hanna has, but they can also use it to advertise their website or anything of their choice.
