Teacher: Ms. Klement
Subject: Guidance
Technology Used: Video Camera, Google Drive, Sound Recorder, Audacity, Abode Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, PowerPoint Presentation
Description of Project:
Ms. Klement requested to make a less than 5 minutes multimedia presentation or video. It was to be created for the ‘After Grade 8’ Night. It was also possible that it will be used at the grade 8 orientation. The overall view was to create a presentation that showcased our school and to excite the audience members (including grade 8 students and parents) for Mackenzie. After meeting up with her, more of the details were discussed. She was open to many different media. So I chose to create a video with pictures and text. Also we discussed that she did not want the video to be time stamped or titled so that it could be used in the future for other students. She wanted to include academics, events and sports. To include this content I used photos from the previous yearbooks, photos from our website, photos from teachers and I even had to take some footage in other teacher’s classrooms.

I used many different types of technology to complete this task. Most it is shown in the video link below.
Other uses:
Video Camera: It is almost a universal object. It can be used in math (and other academics based subjcts) to create lessons. This might make lessons more organized and easily assessable to students. Also some students will find that the ability to pause and play puts the learning speed in the hands of the students rather than the teacher. It can be used in media classes to create film (trailers, short films, documentary, informative video). So the use of the Camera is wide ranged.
Google Drive: It is a very useful tool. Not only does it allow teachers to easily share file with students for any class. It saves paper. It makes the information accessible almost anywhere. Students can organise all there school file all in one place.
Sound Recorder & Audacity: Just like the video camera, these programs can be used in any class. It can be used to recorder lessons/lectures so that again students are able to listen to it at their own pace and time.
Abode Illustrator & Premiere Pro: These pieces of technology are used to create. They would most likely be very useful in art based courses such as photography, film, media arts. They are very useful tools because they allow for professional looking creations. The programs include all the features required to create a film or vector.
PowerPoint Presentation: This piece of technology is already being used by many in the classroom environment, but I feel that it is not being used to its full potential. PowerPoint has so much more to offer than just slides. With the dynamic animations offered in PowerPoint the class lessons can be enhanced to a new level. It would allow students to easily understand the content in a fun and visual way. Another great pro for using PowerPoint is that it is not only available to everyone, but it is a fairly straight forward to create anything. Students already extensively use PowerPoint to do school presentations but the level of the presentation can be greatly increased if one were to learn the potential of the program. So as a learning experience I have included a link to a PowerPoint presentation that I found 2 years ago that not only highlights a good presentation but it shows off PowerPoint’s many unused powerful features. Download it and view its presentation.
