Mme Lan - Jennifer, Nadia and Zoe
Description: The goal of our placement was to create an easy to use website for Ms. Lan's french courses in French and to teach her class how to create a website.
We started off by teaching her class how to make a Weebly website, as they would be required to create one for an assignment. We used a demo email account that we created in class that morning to create a Weebly account. We went to their class during third period to show them the basics of Weebly and answer any questions they had.
For her website, Ms. Lan wanted her students to have access to assignments, due dates and resources from anywhere. Ms. Lan gave us a lot of freedom in terms of the platform and template; she wanted it easy to use, colourful and with a picture of the eiffel tower. We chose Weebly because the drag and drop function makes it simple for Ms. Lan to make changes. To make the website useful for her students, we added a home page, a page for Ms. Lan's classes, an announcements page and a culture page. In the home page, we added an assignment submission form, making it very easy for students to hand in assignments. In the "Les Cours" page, we added a sub-page for each of the courses that Ms. Lan teaches in this semester and next semester. For each course, we added 5 pages: course outline, vocabulary, lessons, grammar and projects. Each of these pages can be accessed through the drop-down menu or buttons on the class page. We uploaded some content under the appropriate category that we accessed through Ms. Lan's pick up folder. Upon completion of the website, we showed Ms. Lan the site to ask if she wanted any changes made and we taught her how to use her new site. We gave Mme Lan about a week to upload resources onto her site and followed up via email. We met up with her to answer any questions and address anything she had difficulty with.

Application in Other Classes: A Weebly website is extremely versatile and useful for any course. When a teacher has a website, students have an easier time accessing their work, staying organized, catching up on work that they may have missed if they were away or to reread a lesson if they had trouble understanding concepts taught in class. Many teachers use websites as a helpful teaching tool that they update regularly and their students are usually thankful. Websites allow students to gain a level of understanding and organization that would otherwise be very difficult to attain. In particular, a Weebly website is great as it is easy to edit, has many design options and gives a great user experience.
