Ms. Scocchia- Rosalie Tran
Teacher: Ms. Scocchia
Subject: Co-Op 12
Technology Used: Weebly
Description:
The goal of this assignment was to create a website for Ms. Scocchia's grade 12 co-op class. Ms. Scocchia wanted a site that included a calendar for her students to know when to come into class instead of their co-op placement. This site also allows her student to have access to the class handouts and PDF files. Not only does the site include the calendar for the semester, it also allows her students to be able to download and print a hard copy of the calendar. Finally, Ms. Scocchia requested that I include a contact box that would keep her email anonymous for privacy purposes.
After creating the site, I arranged a time with Ms. Scocchia in order for us to sit down so I could show her how to use the site and how to upload media.
I was originally going to use Google Calendar but Ms. Scocchia had already created a calendar on Microsoft Word to upload to the website.
Possible Uses in other Classes/ Subject Areas:
Weebly is a free website builder that any teacher can use to create a class website. It's visually appealing and easy to use; which satisfies most people, especially those who don't consider themselves "tech savvy". There are many options of what media the teachers are able to upload. Teachers are able to create slideshows, add YouTube videos, audio, flash files, documents and images. Weebly also offers the ability for teachers to add a survey or a forum for their class to discuss class material. The drawback however, is the lack of ability to present powerpoints online. Which many teachers may like to do, but although they cannot be viewed online, they can still be uploaded for students to access.
