DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
The main focus of this placement was to create a documentary on the grade 11 leadership course from start to finish. As this was the first time that Ms. Soto Gordon had taught the class, she wanted to give them something to keep and remember everything that they accomplished through this course. The documentary was to cover all of the major projects and
Since Ms.Soto Gordon wanted to create a documentary spanning the entire course, I regularly scheduled days where I would go and film her class during my spare period. The first step, apart from meeting with her and setting up some timelines, was to get a storyboard in place. Both Ms. Soto Gordon and I discussed themes that the movie would include and I also took the ideas of the students as well into consideration.
The filming itself took place from October to the end of December. After this step was completed, I then went through all the videos and photos that I had and deleted what I thought was unnecessary. The music selection was also something that took some consideration. Ms. Soto Gordon requested something uplifting but she also cautioned me into choosing something that wouldn't go against copyright laws. I researched and came up with a site called Purple Planet which allowed users to freely use and distribute their work as long as it was credited.
The last step of the project was to buy DVDs and burn the movie onto them so that Ms. Soto Gordon could distribute it to her class.

This video documentary was posted on YouTube but was also given to each student on a DVD for them to keep.
OTHER POSSIBLE USES:
There are many other school uses for the technologies that are listed above other than what they were used for in this project.
Google Drive is a highly useful and versatile tool available for both students and teachers. It is most useful for collaborative work where everyone can work on a single document or presentation together. It allows students to connect in real-time and saves everyone the effort of having to send portions of work back and forth.
iMovie is also a very helpful tool that both students and teachers can use. iMovie allows users to put together films and trailers with very little difficulty. It comes with a lot of tutorials and makes it very easy for new or inexperienced users to create their own creative piece.
Audacity is a software program that allows users to create or edit audio pieces. It can be used for a variety of purposes from editing an audio piece to be used in a movie to recording and editing a voice over. Audacity might be a little confusing to new users but with practice can be a very useful tool for all.
