Ms. Sugarman - Amir
Teacher: Ms. Sugarman (Social Sciences Department)
Subject: Grade 11 History
Technology Used: Google Earth
Description: I taught and assisted Ms. Sugarman with Google Earth to integrate it into a grade 11 History project. If time had permitted it, I would have demonstrated how to virtually create an international tour and how to incorporate text, photos, and videos into it. Ms. Sugarman would have assigned her students a research assignment about archaeological sites around the world and the students would have conducted the research at home and prepared photos and videos to support it. Next, I would have joined Ms. Sugarman's class and demonstrated how to create placemarks in Google Earth (pins that can be placed anywhere and include a description) in order to integrate the students' research into it. Each placemark would feature a description of the landmark it represents as well as an explanation of the landmark's significance and how it helped shed new light on its respective civilization. Throughout the text, the students would have added photos of the archaeological site and YouTube videos (if applicable) to support the research. To assist students with the process, I created a document detailing the procedure of integrating the research into Google Earth.

Applications for Other Subjects: Google Earth can be integrated into any geography or history class. By viewing and exploring planet Earth, students can learn and recognize different landmarks, countries, and geographical areas across our planet. This assignment can be altered simply by changing the research requirements and students can still use the same methods to integrate that research into a virtual tour on Google Earth.
