Ms.Elso-ponzo : Lolo Zhao
Teacher: Ms. Elso-ponzo (Student Services and Social Sciences Department)
Subject: Grade 10 History, Grade 12 philosophy
Technology Used: Wix, gmail and its tools (Calendar), dropbox,
Description:
Ms.Elso-ponzo wanted to to create a website for her grade 10 history and grade 12 philosophy class where she could update the calendar, include links to outer sources for study purposes, and also for a way to pick up items from her dropbox as well as having a way to contact her.
First I started by creating a wix template and also a weebly website as a reference to show her how each one looks and functions. And since Rosalie also made a weebly sample for Ms.Elso-ponzo and she had more experience with weebly, I showed Ms.Elso-ponzo Rosalie's weebly website and my wix website. Finally after a long and detailed meeting of demonstrating functions, storage space, uploads and the website customization, Ms.Elso-ponzo decided that she would prefer to use wix due to it's simpleness and easy to use functions.
So the next thing thing I did right away was go and make her a second website of exactly how her website would look like. Whilst doing that, I also made her a gmail account and a dropbox account. The process did not take as long as the first once since now I already knew what she wanted to incorporate in her website. It was finished quite fast with regular interval meetings inbetween.
Next, after I had taught her the basics, Ms.Elso-ponzo decided that she wanted to play around with the second website because she wanted to understand how to use the functions by herself instead of me teaching her how to use it and then her forgetting. Even though there were video tutorials of how to use each function on the website, I found some other video tutorials on youtube of how to create a website using wix.
